We are excited to announce in this edition of our newsletter the forthcoming EATAW 2025 conference. At our recent board meeting on April 25, 2024, we met with the conference organizer to discuss dates, locations, themes, and more. Many of you may know the organizer well, and we are confident that our collaboration with the organizing committee will lead to another memorable event.
We are also pleased to share the publication of EATAW’s position statement on AI. We extend our heartfelt thanks to those who provided feedback on our initial draft. We plan to update the statement as new information emerges or when insights from the EATAW community suggest adjustments are needed.
With kind regards, Djuddah Leijen, on behalf of the EATAW Board
In light of the growing use of AI tools in higher education, the EATAW Board has developed a statement on Fostering Digital Scholarship based on Critical Thinking and Reflective Use of AI. We hope this document, developed with the cooperation of outside educational experts, will provide guidelines for EATAW members to promote best practices concerning AI use in their institutions. Given the speed of change in this field, we are open to revising this document periodically with the suggestions of members.

As ever, the Board are interested in hearing what EATAW activities members would like to get involved in. After a pause, we want to get started again on developing an EATAW podcast, so if that is something you want to help with, please let us know. Another area of particular interest for us is the development of an EATAW social media presence – so do reach out if you are interested in that too.
