EATAW 2019
Welcome to EATAW2019 – Academic writing at intersections: Interdisciplinarity, genre hybridization, multilingualism, digitalization, and interculturality.
We meet in Gothenburg on the campus of Chalmers University of Technology, July 2-4 in 2019. A reception will also be arranged for July 1 along with any pre-conference activities that are proposed.
For the 2019 conference, we would like to direct the association’s attention to the various intersections in which academic writing is active and can be an agent. Such intersections may include academic writing across and beyond disciplinary audiences as well as the hybridization of academic writing genres. Other intersections would be: academic writing as a site of intercultural communication, academic writing by translingual writers and in multilingual societies, academic writing in digitalized settings, including digital genres, and blended learning. Closely aligned with these potential intersections are questions about how academic writing as a discipline and as a higher education activity succeeds in promoting writing development and disciplinary learning at the many various intersections.
We invite contributions that explore and problematize the possibilities and challenges of academic writing face in any of the many intersection. as a place of intersections. The full range of formats are yet to be decided but will include both research-oriented contributions and practice-oriented ones.

EATAW Conference 2015
Academic Writing in Multiple Scholarly, Socio-Cultural, Instructional and Disciplinary Contexts: Challenges and Perspectives
Tallinn University of Technology, 15–17 June
We hope all conference delegates have enjoyed safe travel home and that you are finding time for the reflection and personal writing events a great conference calls for!
We would like to extend our gratitude first of all to the organising institution and to Dr Kärt Rummel. The conference worked really well. The keynotes were rewarding and generated a lot of ideas and discussion among the delegates. The sessions, workshops, symposia were well-scheduled, making choosing somewhat easier. (We find that is often the most challenging task at EATAW conferences – choosing what to attend!). Thank you also for arranging a conference dinner in a castle!
Yet, you – the members and delegates – make the conference. Thank you all for bringing your work to Tallinn and sharing it with us!
As usual, presenters will be offered at least one publication channel for their papers should they be interested in pursuing a publication. The JoAW editor Dr. Lisa Ganobcsik-Williams and the conference chair Dr. Kärt Rummel will be communicating these options via the EATAW-list shortly.
Do enjoy summer everyone!
Yours the EATAW board
